A Brief Biography

Dr. Lee A. Craig is Alumni Distinguished Professor of Economics and Head of the Department of Economics at North Carolina State University, where he has taught for the past 31 years. He received his Ph.D. from Indiana University, and he has published six books and more than one hundred scholarly articles, chapters, and reviews. In addition to his appointment at N.C. State, Dr. Craig has been a research fellow and research economist at the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a fellow of the Center for Demographic Studies at Duke University, and a Marshall Fund Fellow at the Seminar for Economic History at the University of Munich. He was a chapter editor of Historical Statistics of the United States, and he is currently on the editorial board of Cliometrica. He has previously served on the editorial board of Historical Methods and the Board of governors of the University of North Carolina Press. Professor Craig has also been a visiting professor of economics at Duke University, and occasionally serves a “talking head” on C-SPAN and PBS. He is a former winner of the N.C. State College of Management Outstanding Teacher Award, and he is a member of the North Carolina Academy of Outstanding Teachers
